Big B's Babies

Big "B" delivered a gorgeous set of twins this afternoon.  One doeling and one buckling.

The doeling is the black one and the buckling is the brown one.

Jynger

 

This picture Jynger was actually taken about a month ago.  She is SOOOO miserable and she sits like this quite often, hoping for some relief I'm sure.   Jynger is a purebred Nubian and she is due on 3/20/13.

 Ginko

 

Ginko.........one of the sweetest girls on the farm.  :)  She is as big as a house and I am really hoping for girls from her.  Ginko is a Nubian LaMancha cross and she is due on 3/15/13.

 Ciara

 

Ciara is absolutely gorgeous.  She has a little bit of an attitude and she will DEFINITELY hold a grudge against you for any infraction whether it is real or perceived. Ciara is a a purebred LaMancha and she is 6 years old.  Ciara is due on 3/14/13.

Playdoe

 

Playdoe is the one that Chrys was talking to sometime back telling her how fat she was and I thought he was talking to me and started looking for something to bop him up side the head with.  :)

Playdoe is a purebred Nubian and she is 3 years old.  Playdoe is due on 3/17/13.

 

 Rosie

 Rosie is an 8 year old purebred Nubian.  Needless to say, because of her age, we are REALLY hoping for a couple of more daughters out of her this year.  Rosie is just a little bit spoiled and definitely demands special treatment.  Rosie is due on 3/17/13.

 Tiny

Tiny is a purebred Saanen and she is anything but tiny!  LOL  Tiny is also 8 years old and to be perfectly honest, I'm not even sure that she is bred (she looks pregnant even when she isn't).  The first possible due date is 3/30/13)

Motzi

Since we didn't think that there would be enough to do during the long days of kidding season we decided to through a litter of puppies into the mix.  This is our daughter's dog, Motzi (means sweet and brave).  She is a Shiht zu and she is just as miserable as the goat girls are.

Mercury's Babies

We have been rushing around trying to get everything done before the "REAL" kidding season starts, which should be next week.  Lo and behold, Mercury decided to deliver early with triplets.  Two boys and one girl.  The babies are six days early, but they are strong and are taking a bottle so I don't really foresee any problems with them.  Mom is doing fine as well.  :)

Crystal's Babies

This afternoon something kept nagging at me to go out and do a barn check even though none of the girls were looking that close...........And guess what I find?!  Crystal delivered twins!  One doeling and one buckling.  Mom and babies were both doing fine except that Red was trying to steal the babies.  LOL  Crystal wasn't one that I had pegged for kidding this early, but obviously she was one of Ed's fleeting girl friends when he snuck into the doe pasture.

Lil' B's Boys

Lil' B finally delivered twin boys this morning.  They are big and gorgeous!  :)

I was beginning to get a little worried about Lil' B.  For the last couple of weeks all she would do is lay around in the barn.  Her hind legs were beginning to swell and in hopes of helping this problem we would go out several times a day and take her for a walk in order to help keep the circulation moving.  Here are her pretty boys.  :)

Red's Babies

The young girls have now finished kidding.  We had a total of 28 babies 

(12 girls and 16 boys) born within 17 days.

I was especially glad that round one was over and then to my surprise Red delivered triplets yesterday.  Red was not suppose to have babies until March, but we did have that "one" day when one of the bucks broke into the doe pasture.  He wasn't in there very long, but I guess he was busy for the short time that he was in there.  Fortunately, I was I paying attention and was noticing the changes in Red that were signalling an upcoming birth.  Unfortunately, he may have been even busier because there are a couple more does that are looking like they are getting close (Lord, I just pray that it isn't the majority of the herd).  Never a dull moment.

Most days on the farm are busy, yet happy.  There is the occasional day that will bring you joy and sadness within a matter of moments.  Yesterday was such a day.  Although Red kidded out just fine without a single birthing problem, there were definitely problems.  The first to be born, a buckling, is gorgeous and perfect in every way.  The second birth is a little doeling who is also perfect in every way except that she was born with only three legs.  I'm not sure what happened, but I have done a little research on line and I have found many examples of three legged goats that thrive and do just fine.  I was going to name her Tripod, but our three year old grand daughter wants to name her Super Goat.  :)  I am still undecided whether to keep her or find her a loving home that can cater to her special needs.  The third baby to be born, a buckling, was not fully developed and arrived DOA.

Red's little girl.  Just three legs, but she is working very hard to stand and is eating very well and seems healthy in every other way.

Tinkerbell's Baby

On Saturday afternoon (02/02/13) Tinkerbell delivered a single doeling.  She is a good sized girl and the first of the year that I have had to assist in the birth.  It wasn't bad though, she was positioned correctly, she just needed a little help in getting her head out.  Mom and baby are both doing wonderful!

This is the last baby from this group.  The main herd will start kidding the middle of March although we may have a couple that kid between now and then (because one of the bucks broke into the doe pasture when he wasn't suppose to) but for the most part it will be calm here for about the next 45 days then..........it will be SUPER busy for about a month or so!  :)
